Hello from SoCal

Post by djw »

Hey everyone. I'm new here. I'm also a new owner of a 1975 Celica GT. It's mostly original and needs some work. It has a crappy yellow respray and some rust (hopefully only surface rust). The gas tank is horribly rusted inside and I don't think I'll be able to reuse it. The seller gave me the gas tank from his 73, so hopefully I can adapt that to make it work in my car. The driver's seat belt sometimes stays locked, and I can't fasten it when it does that. So all in all, I will attempt to get it running and go from there. My dad had a 73 GT, but when I was a kid ('95) it was stolen. Hopefully that doesn't happen to me too.

Looking forward to learning from the more experienced members, and maybe I'll be able to help others too!

Here's a couple of pics that the previous seller took. It looks good to me in the photos, but when you view it up close in person you can spot all the imperfections.

Also the steering wheel has LOADS of play, so that's on my list of priorities to sort out as well.

I live in Eastvale. My car isn't actually running currently because I'm trying to swap in an RA21 fuel tank (my car is RA22). I'm currently trying to figure out how to wire it, so I'll be posting about that shortly.

Yeah, where did you get this car? Saw a similar one near me for sale not long ago.

The car was in the Albany / El Cerrito area of the Bay area. I hopped on a flight to Oakland to get there.
