TA22GT one of 8 roadworthy uk survivors.

Post by 1600gtcelica »

I bought this car in 1993 and it is one of the original 300 twin cam (2t-g ) cars imported into the uk, only about 25 survive and this cars is now one of 8 roadworthy ones , and they were produced in only bronze and white.
When bought it had minor accident damage to the front which i had repaired 20 years ago, but due life pressures , it sat in my garage with a cover over it. However now it has been fixed and it has gone through uk mot. and it is now on the road .
I have attached some photos on my flickr account and the car now needs some jobs doing to it to get it to a very nice state and it just needs to be driven.
These cars are now highly sort of in the uk, and they were raced in fairly standard trim in 1975/76 very successfully in the 1600cc class. This is a completely different animal to the 22gt sold in America, as this car has a 2t-g twin cam engine and twin mikuni solex 40 carbs and standard limited slip diff and 5 speed box.
i will be enjoying it over the summer.
Cheers malcolm.
