Re: Liftback caught my eye
Dashboards usually fair pretty well. The pad on the top will crack many times. They sell fiberglass covers for those that look really nice. The center console between the two seats is the part that many times are hard to find. I suppose you could make one if you are handy. If the car is a california...

Re: Liftback caught my eye
Like Skeptic said, rust is the main enemy. Since you are not concerned with the engine and drivetrain, the body and interior is your concern. Interior pieces are HARD to come by. Center consoles, plastic taillight covers for the hatch area, etc. 30 year old rubber seals tend to go bad, so look for r...

Gorgeous. It even looks like it is the original color, although it's likely a respray.
I have a white liftback also. My wife always thought mine looked like an after dinner mint.

Welcome! Where did you find your car? It is rare to see them that clean in your area.

Re: Possible 77 Celica GT purchase
Whether it's worth it depends on how hard a car like this is to come by in your area. I know the pacific NW in the US has a ton of them. That would possibly help you with needed parts. If you feel good about it and you can get a good deal on it, I say go for it. You have spotted enough things that i...

Re: Possible 77 Celica GT purchase
What he said  Also, where are you from? Please fill it out in your profile. If you are from somewhere where smog is strict, you need to take that into consideration. No need on buying the car, then spending the next few months trying to get it to pass smog. Also, what's your budget and plans f...

GORGEOUS!
I didn't realize that one was yours. I saw it in the project gallery earlier. How long did it take to finish it? What kind of condition was it in when you got it?

Re: Sup
Welcome aboard!
Good luck with your project. I have a 77 liftback that I have owned for 11 years, but it has been neglected for about 9 or 10 of those. The guys here will be lots of help both for info and for parts!

Re: New Guy in the midwest
Once I get my celica up to par (at least mechanically) I might be up for the drive. Like I said though, it would probably be like next spring or summer.

Re: New Guy in the midwest
Looks like combined you will have one really nice celica. I know from experience how hard these things are to come by in the midwest. If we ever get enough people together, it would be awesome to organize a meet (probably next summer or spring) in a relatively neutral location.

Thanks a lot. I like the painted look. That car looks mean. My car is white, so I don't know how good it would look. Looks great on your car though. Welcome to 1stgencelica.com.

There are members from all over the country--world for that matter. Boy you socal and norcal guys are deep though.
Do you have pictures of those painted supra rims from the side? (close up and from a distance?) I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but I am unsure on how they will turn out.
