Thinking of buying this Celica, and becoming active here~

Post by Curiosity »

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a Celica, and was wondering what you guys though of the two I've found so far.
The first one:

1977 Toyota Celica GT. 22r engine 5spd,runs and drives $3000 obo trades?

The second one [the wheels would have to go though, oi]:

I AM SELLING MY 77 CELICA ST COUPE TONS OF NEW PARTS DAILY DRIVER AND TONS MORE,DAILY DRIVER ONLY NEEDS MINOR COSMETICS TO BE PERFECT..$1600 OBO OR TRADE

I figure it'd be far worth it to get ahold of the extra ~1.5k and get the GT if it isn't covered in rust, yeah?

I would personally go for the liftback, but that's because I'm a liftback guy. It looks like it's in pretty good shape and has a 22R already in it. Good luck! :2thumbs:

I was thinking I'd get the liftback if I can find the money for it, and it's not super rusty.

The rocker panels, wheel arches, bottom of fenders, spare tire well, metal lip under rear hatch seal, carpet in passenger area. Those are the places I would look first. If you find rust take some pictures and post them and we'll let you know what we think!

Another vote for the liftback. But I,m partial. :-)

And be sure that that paint job isn't hiding nasty rust... bring a magnet when you look at it to test for body filler. Research the common rust spots.

Best of luck.

I'm a coupe guy!

Seriously, get the style that appeals to you - you're the only one who can decide that!

I prefer the liftback, but it was more of a 'which car looks better [from what we can see in the pictures] as far as how well it'll hold up.
