Hello All,

I have just joined and am impressed with the range of topics. I have a 1977 RA28 on which I have performed the following surgery: RC motor replaced with RG & side-draft carburettors, lightened flywheel, heavy-duty clutch, drive train balanced with new bearings, new wheel bearings and suspension bushes upgrade, 3-core radiator, belt fan replaced with eclectric fan, shadow immobilizer, pacemaker extractors/sports muffler fitted, head lights upgraded, interior stripped & rust-treated, butyl sound deadening tiles throughout including doors, damaged back seats jetisoned and space re-carpeted incorporating the boot, rear vinyl interior resprayed black, front carpets replaced, sheepskin seats, new headlining incorporating LED interior light, 4 speaker audio system and last but not least the dash pad was restored. Additionally I have replaced the dash panel, reconfigured the dash controls and hand-fashioned a solid wood Silky Oak dash panel and central console surface. I'll post photographs of the woodwork soon. There is now no avoiding the inevitable - a respray!

WOOD DASH PANEL

I have never liked the dash panels on these vehicles - so redolent of cheap option-barn parts sourcing. So out it goes to be replaced with a hand-crafted Silky Oak version that significantly elevates the cabin aesthetic. What think you?
