Hello Everyone!

Post by BrianGT »

Hello to everyone! :D

My name is Brian and I have just restored a 1976 TA22 and I am totally in love with the car.....sad but true!

Back in the 70's I used to be a Toyota mechanic so worked on these when they were current. In 1980 I had a complete job change and left the spanners behind never to return. However, I couldn't get the two Celica's I owned out of my heart, especially as I had rallied them and had so much fun in them!
Fast forward 30 years and I was offered the chance to restore one through my friend who owned the Toyota dealership I used to work for. He sold it many years ago but has kept up his love for old Toyota's.
It's a TA22 ST but I fitted a 2TG with Group A cams, twin Dellorto 45's, 4 branch header and Powerflow exhaust....TRD inserts at front fitted in to corona struts for bigger brakes and stiffer springs. Bilstein at the rear.
Anyway.....this thread is useless without pics......so here she is.

Currently the engine is out and has been sleeved and bored for 89mm pistons and a 3T crank fitted...hope to have her running again by the end of the month! Missing her already!

Hope to learn and re-learn everything GEN1 from you guys!

Hi Neil.......yes that was the works colour scheme back in the day. Notice I spelt colour correctly!

I'm about 130 miles above Glasgow! You should have a good time whilst you are there! Safe journey!
