Hi everyone from the west coast of Canada.

Older guy here, just signed up a few days ago after contacting Leslie, nice to see the passion for the first gens! Bought my first car in 1980, a orange 1974 Corolla 1600 from the original owner, had 30k miles on it at the time and cost $3k to buy. Loved that car, crashed it twice. Other Toyotas after that included a 76’ Corolla, 83’ BJ60 Land Cruiser, 88’ FJ62 Land Cruiser (still have), 03’ Forerunner SR5, 07’ Tundra SR5 (still have), a 77’ RA24 for our 16 year old son (very bad idea, I know) which got crashed (like father, like son) and a 76’ RA29 bought from the original owner, a retired University of Washington professor, in 2007. This is a rust free car, serial number “000020” built in October 75’, and I kept it stored away until late last fall before starting a rebuild. I think I am going with a 3sge for power, Ford 8.8 rear end, coil overs, new interior - lots of details still to be finalized though.

I’m writing this post to introduce myself (hello!) and get some feedback on the highly subjective decisions of selecting an engine and paint color (leaning towards the color of the sv-1 prototype displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 73’) for my long awaited RA29 project. Appreciating this may be an exercise in futility for all involved, I remain open-minded and clearly undecided, and would like to hear your opinions / thoughts.

Looking forward to sharing the progress and hearing your feedback and suggestions along the way. Thanks and best wishes!

Welcome to the forum, there is a lot of info here. there are no stupid questions and there is a ton of scenarios you can search. We've all asked for something sometime. Chances are good your queries have been dealt with before. And yes the sv colour would be a good choice.

Cheers
Neil

Thanks Neil, already learned a lot over the last few days. Not unlike the “garza” creation I will also be looking to build car that fits my personality, age, and driving behaviors :D
