Hey from Australia!

Post by smithter »

Hey guys,

Im pretty new to your site and very new to celica's, very soon my Mrs (who is about to commence study to become a mechanic) and myself will be purchasing our very own 1974 TA22 Celica to do as a project.

Just goin to look over the car at the owmers house to see if its as good as the pictures tell us, then well fix it up a bit and get it roadworthy to drive it before we mod it (only needs a bit to get roadworthy).

Build: 1974 TA22 Celica

Side-ish

Engine Bay (Missing an air filter lol)

Dash/Interior (Obviously needs a touch up)

Since this photos been taken, the car needs a new windscreen/Passenger side window and headlight (dod drop the price $300 though) because someonme smashed it with a baseball bat apparently.

this projects gonna go over a 10 year period or so (as we get more money), but we will work on getting it stock roadworthy to start with and see if we really love the way it drives, not just the way it looks.

A VERY general outline of what we want in the end is;
- 13b rotary motor with series 5 turbo
- Lowered slightly on 15" wheels
- Exterior: Purple or Black
- Interior: "Classic"

This is what first inspired my love with old style celica's (saw it half way through 2009) for sale

Big cheers,
Chris

P.S I love giving back to communities like this; I'm a pretty big computer nut aswell, so if you have any website problems or personal computer problems just give me a yell and I can fix it or I will know someone that can!

Hi mate, welcome aboard.
sorry to tell you but that is not a ta22. It is eater a RA23 or a TA23. Check with the chassie number but it should have a code in front of all the numbers eg. TA22, TA23, RA23, RA28.

Other then that, nice find and a grate price too :2thumbs:

Because i own one, here is a pic of my ta22 :shades:

The body (your car) from the front fenders is longer and different setup for the bumper and indicators, as well as that bonnet bulge that im trying to get :cry2:

I see that the engine is an 18r, if so then you most likley have a ra23. Wouldent mind having one my self, just find yourself an 18rg engine and you have a DOHC 2L monsta that is quiet quick as i have been beaten a number of times by them

Anyway good luck with the project

very nice starting project you got there.
i like the hard to find LT grill. oh and again, yeh im pretty sure your car is a ra23... the "R" stands for the series of motor you have. since yours is an 18r, the series is "R". and the "A" stands for Celica. the i forgot what the numbers mean, but from what i remember they stand for the exact model and chassis of the celica

Damn, sorry to hear that. Don't give up hope you'll find one yet.

The one I have now is like the 6th one I looked at, a couple I passed on, and a few were gone before I got a chance at them.

Cheers,
Pete
