traded my old ae86 for this brand spanking ra29, socal

Post by maxra29 »

hi, my name is max and i just sold my beloved ae86 that ive had since i was 17 for this celica ra29 liftback, i really like this car because it resembles an old muscle car minus the power, but that will soon change. maybe thinking about doing something different like an rb26dett swap or something fun to represent jdm oldskool. thanks mike, i will take care of her.

Where do they hide the model number translator? What's an AE86 or a RA22 , etc.?

AE86 is a Mid 80s RWD Corolla (the last years of RWD). RA29 is a US version 76-77 Celica.

Welcome to the forum! Got any pics of the AE?

There's a lot of good Toyota motors that'll fit in there and lots of good info on the web for how to do it. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Plenty of people have started Nissan motor swaps into Celicas. Personally, I facepalm every time I hear about it. I get that you're the only one that you have to please at the end of the day, but I still wonder why you didn't just get a 280Z. Regardless, good luck and have fun with it.

If there are people here dropping s2000 engines into celicas, I really don't see the harm in putting a Godzilla engine into one. After all both car and engine are dragons, well kinda, lol!!! Btw thank you for your honesty.

Yeah, it's just that the RB doesn't have anything the 2J doesn't (aside from being way more expensive). Where the F20C does have an edge over all the 4 cylinders by Toyota. But, I still maintain that the RB20 is one of the prettiest engines.

Yes the 2jzgte is badass. And I think it has more Hp than the rb26, I don't think the 2j has itb's though, I love the sound of the rb more though. I know the 1jz sound identical to the rb at high revs but I know it's been done. Could be a cool experience to be one of the first to do one of these.
