New Guy from SIN CITY Las Vegas

Post by kako0709 »

Hey guys whats up?!

First and foremost great site! i've been learning alot on the forums.

anyway.. ive been lurking the forums for about a month now since i got my celica. finally had the time to introduce myself

im Damian from LV just bought myself a 77 GT 5spd Liftback with 93K Miles for $2k :P

ive been wanting one for soooooooo long and finally found one for cheap :)

pretty much drove all the way to LA and back just to buy the car.

the car didn't come with the usdm bumpers but the seller gave me front and rear fiberglass smileys for it.
(does anyone have a how to to make brackets for them? )

exterior is doo doo brown , HAHA interior is tan/brownish (might be just dirt) LOL
engine stock 20r with weber carb

car has only a few surface rust spots but no "CANCER" :)
im new to toyota's and new to carburated cars and RWD cars..

the bads on it: interior need to be redone (i.e. Driver seat/carpet/ upper part of the Rear Seats/ Dash cracks)
brakes need to be replaced (calipers/rotor/drums/shoes/master cyl/ probably booster?)
little dings here and there
minor hit on passenger quarter panel wheel well
Radiator leak

my plans for now are : FULL Restore!
FIX the bads mentioned above
Repaint (not sure wether i should paint it white or black)
Replace all weather stripping
Fender Mirrors
Install Smileys

does anyone know a "how-to" make brackets for the smileys or measurements? ive been searching for weeks now

im thinking of buying tokico "blues" for my car, only thing is is there any springs out there besides stock?
(i have no plans at the moment of modding suspension, i just really want something decent and wont require mods)

does anyone have any hub centric rings installed on their car? i would like to know the size you are running.

final question, haha. would coupe flares work on the liftbacks?

anyway here are some pics of it when i first saw it when i arrived to sellers house :P

looks like a solid start! you might want to inquire your bracket question in our Interior and Exterior section. there be a few guys that might help you out on that issue. pretty much most of your questions can be asked there.

the tokico "blues" are a great choice for daily driving. look around the Forum as they pop up for sale from time to time.

good luck! and congrats on your new purchase!

Looks to be in pretty good shape, other than the issues you listed.

Interior - There is a guy selling reproduction door panels in the Classified Section, they are for Coupes, but I think he was planning on doing Liftback ones too

Brackets for =) Bumpers - Check with Foxau2 as he makes and sells the smileys he would probably best know about the brackets. He has his ad in the Vendors section

If you want Performance Springs (Lowering), a number of brands are still made in Australia. I have Kings which I ordered direct, but there are Dobinsons, Pedders, and another brand that the name escapes me ATM....Lovells that's it.
Or if you want an OEM replacement I would look in the Technical Talk - Chassis and Suspension section, as there have been many discussed there.
King Springs http://svc097.wic026v.server-web.com/Default.htm
Pedders http://www.pedders.com.au/products/56
Dobinsons http://www.dobinsonsprings.com/site/index.html These used to sold by Toyhead Auto here in North America, but not sure if Rick still stocks them http://toyheadauto.com/Celica_Parts_1971_to_1977.html
The Lovells Automotive website does not seem to be working ATM, I could only find their industrial site.

As WIQDTOY mentioned a lot of answers to your questions are already found in the Technical Talk forums.

GL & I hope some of this info helps.
