Hello from Belgium

Post by Wekkie13 »

Hi, every body. I'm John and I live in Belgium (Europe) and own a 1974 Celica 1600ST and
a 1971 Celica in a very, very bad condition.

The '74 one is not running since 1987 and I own it since 4 years (still not running, almost
ready for it's first ride) but it,s the one witch will return on the road next year.

Done till now: new paint, new seats, tires, shocks, no rust......
Now working on the engine. Oh, it's red, Lexus mica.

I live near to Maaseik, next to the border of the Netherlands. Mam Begium, dad Dutch.
I have lived in Belgium and Holland.

The spoiler: it's a 1976 spoiler, I bought the car from the 1st owner, he put it on the car
in 1976 he said. I like it, most people think it's to big. I think it's very seventies.

What do you think?

It's for sure '70, it's made the 3 month in 1975, made in the UK, (underside of the spoiler)
And very important: you can put a few beers on it !! If you don't like that

and we all know how many beers they use to drink in the 70's ,so having a right place for them is very important

Welcome to the forum! The car looks very nice!

The spoiler does look 70s, but not 70's 'normal-car-with-a-spoiler'. Nobody in the 70s ran a spoiler that big on a normal otherwise stock car (maybe you crazy 70's Belgium'ites did??). The race cars of that era did, but they also had flares and skirts. It just looks out of place without anything to compliment it. I would suggest finding a body kit.....but they don't really exist lol....so either make a kit to compliment it, or call me an fool with no taste and leave it. Either way it only really matters what you think of it!
